They are totally independent of each other, i.e. the reductionist view is wrong. But neglecting the world view, the statistical theory was developed by the reductionists = atomists, so reductionism was useful in developing scientific theories, i.e. a good methodology, but how much? All the sound physicists and I (not in a crazy state) never expect the development in the particle theory will help the understanding of even a simple solid. Of course, it may do by developing some methodological concepts, or mathematics, but it's not related with the physics or science itself. There seems to be some confusion between ontology and epistemology and every debate comes from it. |
