I realized that I did not talk about the TSE itself. So I am going to talk about what it is briefly first, and then discuss its organization section by section. I will also talk about some strategies that can help those who have to take it in the near future. OK. first, a brief introduction. Simply speaking, it can be said that the test is designed to see how bad your spoken English can be. The test itself drew a lot of criticism because of its format and the way it was administered. However, it is still widely used probably because there are no other alterniative tests available at present. The test is conducted in a language lab or any place equipped with casette tape players. The procedure is as follows: you will receive a test booklet and a casette tape. The casette tape might be already placed in the tape player. Then you put on a head phone and listen to the tape. You will hear instructions. In some places you will answer questions, in others you will read a paragraph, complete sentences, describe pictures, or talk about a cetrtain topic. Your task is to uncerstand the instructions and day what your are supposed to say in English. Whatever you say will be recorded.
