However, just for your information, you should keep a copy of that letter, in case, there has been a mistake, you'd have something "written" to back up your claim. And regarding the "Right of Landing Fee", often called as ROLF, (according to the federal gov't document EGE700, page 22) What Fee must I pay? You must pay a processing fee when you submit your application. Instructions are provided in this kit to help you to determine the amount and how to submit it. The processing fee is non-refundable, even if your application is refused. The Right of Landing Fee (ROLF) is required of every adult aged 19 or over in your family but, unlike the processing fee, is refundable if an immigrant visa is not issued or used, or if you withdraw your application. The ROLF can be paid at any time during the application process, but must be paid before an immigration visa can be issued. The Right of Landing fee is refundable if for any reason you are refused an immigrant visa. You will also have to pay other fees such as those related to the medical examination and plice clearance. So, I take it the fee is refundable. You do not pay the ROLF at the moment. You can simply write the letter and state that you'd rather wait until the medical examination results are screened. However, I suspect it'd speed up the process a little bit if you pay the ROLF now. Documents that are sent to the gov't can be reviewed as late as 1 month to a year? (Canadian gov't isn't as bad as the INS in the US who seem to be very annoyingly slow in responses and processing time.) And to answer your question, you've passed the initial stages of the long process for immigration. That's all. They now require medical examination and will notify you after they have received it and review it. (as they've notified you of their initial screening of your application.) Medical examiniation is required for reasons, you may put financial burden on Canadian tax payer for any ailment or disease you have (as you will bring w/ you) to Canada. (Tax paid by Candians support the healtcare system in Canada.) So if you do not have any serious disease, and in normal health, you should be fine. And seeing what you've wrote about yourself, my opinion is that, you should be able to pass the screening process fine, however, the decision is always upto the examiner and they have to right to refuse your application for whatever reason they see fit. I hope it helps a bit... Any more questions, e-mail me tack@sprint.ca (I probably would respond faster?) w/ heading KIDS BBS in the subject line. |
