I transferred to schools (in the US) for last 2 years and I'm about to transfer again beginning this fall semester(hopefully the last one). I already got an I-20 from the school I'm about to transfer this fall. The question is that I need to clear the transfer process from the previous school I attended last spring and I had problem with with my transcript for last spring semester. I got all W(withdrawl) grade for entire 12 credits. That's what I'm worried about since I have to ask the previous school to sign the transfer form but I don't think I can get it since I was recordedly withdrawn from all courses last semester. If I don't clear transfer process two weeks afer the class begins, I'll be out of status for sure. So, I checked out some legal information regarding F-1 visa status and found out that there are two ways to redeem the legal F-1 status. One is to apply for a reinstatement for F-1 visa to INS through school international office. It takes 2-3 months to figure out and there's no guarantee that I can get it, though. The other way is to go abroad(from US) and re-enter to the States with a new I-20 and F-1 visa (my F-1 visa didn't expire yet). I found those information from the immigration attorney web site. If that's for sure that I can get my F-1 status again (which I don't know for sure I lost or not, yet) by re-enter the US with new I-20, I would go abroad (korea or ohter countries except for Canada or Mexico-these two countries are excepted, I heard) I talked to korean attoreny in the us but he didn't give me a clear explanation since F-1 visa was not his specialty. I need a help from those who have some knowledge about this kind of matter. Plz, post some information if you know anything about this. I would really appreciate. Thanks. |
