And SS and medicare tax have nothing to do with which tax form you use. You generally don't pay SS and medicare for 5 years but after that you pay those taxes. I think those are taxable portions of your income...In 1999 only part of your income was SS and medicare-taxable, in 2000 all of your income was. I can't say for sure because I don't know what exactly was your sources of income... And yes, J visa pays tax after 2 years, 2 years mean 2 tax years, not 365*2 days. (it can be 366 days if you start working in US on Dec.31) After two years you don't have any tax previlege, I think...
