That's the most convenient way if you don't want to drive to Manhattan. Of course, you could try somewhere in Fort Lee area, but then you won't have as convenient transportation as that you can get from Newport. As for Westchester area, bbmania-nim might be able to give you some advice, I believe. Anyway, if you want to go to Newport, you can take NJ Turnpike and get off at exit 14C. Follow the cars toward Holland Tunnel just until the last traffic light before entering the tunnel, and make a right. Quick left to the drive way to the Mall. Don't worry, you won't end up going into the Mall parking lot. Stay on the left lane, and it will soon become a pretty big intersection, with a lot of apartment building in front of you. Go straight, and simply follow the road making a right turn at the end of the block. You'll see a first parking garage on your right, and there's another one when you turn right at the end of that block. I just got reminded that you CAN go to Fort Lee and park your car at the ferry stop, and take the ferry across the Hudson river. I heard the parking rate there is pretty cheap... I mean compared to Newport. But then again, it can't beat the convenience Newport has. |
