Terry Adams (2-2) got two quick outs in the 13th before walking Chad Fonville. Third baseman Leo Gomez booted Billy Ashley's grounder and Delino DeShields was intentionally walked to load the bases. "Normally, I don't like to guess the other guy's strategy, but in this situation, he did exactly the right thing," Dodgers manager Tom Lasorda said. "In my mind, facing DeShields or facing Chan Ho Park, the decision is obvious who you pitch to. He knew we had no players that we could pinch-hit with." Park -- 1-for-12 this season -- swung and missed at the first pitch, but Adams threw four straight balls. Park ran to first and pumped his fist after drawing the walk and collecting his second RBI of the season. "He got a great at-bat. When a pitcher goes up there, you never know. But he did a very good job of being selective and he found a way to get us a run." "When it got to 3-1, I kept saying to myself, "Chan Ho, please take the next pitch,'" said Fonville, who scored the winning run. Park (5-2), a native of Korea, struck out three and walked one, lowering his ERA to 2.54. Todd Worrell worked the 13th for his 22nd save. "I know I can hit, then they come and tell me that I have to bat," Park said. "I kind of look at everyone like, 'I'm sorry.' I always fantasize about hitting a home run and thinking what it would be like." The Dodgers trailed 3-1 but tied it on run-scoring doubles by Mike Blowers in the seventh and Mike Piazza in the eighth. "After they tied the game, I think we played five scoreless innings," Cubs manager Jim Riggleman said. "The bullpens on both teams did a great job. Park was outstanding for them." Cubs starter Steve Trachsel allowed three runs and five hits in eight innings. He walked three and struck out four. Ryne Sandberg's sacrifice fly in the second inning gave Chicago the lead, but Los Angeles tied it in the third on an RBI single by Roger Cedeno. The Cubs grabbed the lead in the fifth. With one out, rookie Brant Brown singled and Sammy Sosa extended his hitting streak to nine games with a single. Luis Gonzalez, who had three hits, doubled home both runners. Dodgers starter Pedro Astacio allowed three runs and eight hits in six innings. He walked two and struck out five.
