If my calculation is correct, A has two distinct real eigenvalues. Hence it is diagonalizable. It is now easy to decompose A as P^{-1} D P, where D is a diagonal matrix and P is an invertible matrix. Actually, D=diag{1,-1/2} unless I made mistakes in the calculations. Hence, it seems that the answer is 1/3 [ 2 1 2 1]. If my solution is not correct, I am eager to know where was wrong. In case it is correct, Prof. illusion, do you have any other method of solution in mind? |
