[ KAIST ] in KIDS 글 쓴 이(By): iLUSiON (띠띠빤쮸) 날 짜 (Date): 2003년 12월 16일 화요일 오후 12시 27분 49초 제 목(Title): Re: [p] 중국과학기술 논문 you have to consider not only science and technological development but also the social, political and cultural development as well. if you look at the history of cilizations, you can see the pattern. without political freedom and free thinking, everything will crumble down. see Russia for example. well someone will say it is de to the failed economy but that is also caused by the failed social and political structure. china will surely be a major power in the world from the sheer size of the country and the monstrous number of population. but i don't see china becoming as powerful and infuencial as america or japan within 50 years without letting its population the freedom of thinking. see korea had huge economic upheavel and social changes after the democracy. that is the price to pay for the political change. but in many sense it is worth while for korea. for instance korea's own culture - movie, music seems to be very prospering. i don't see such blossom of arts under the president Park. ^^ you should not compare the developement of korea to any other nation. its development is somewaht unique in many aspect although it can be compatable in many ways to taiwan. china is china. japan is japan and korea is korea. korerans always have this psychological problem of insecurity and try to see the place in the world event and history. i think koreans in general should pay more attention to themselves and about many injustice in the korean society. korea is doing fine in many ways... you don't have to shoot a satellite into space to prosper. take a look at sweeden! iLUSiON whitepolarcow@hotmail.com |
