Although I agree that a certain guide line _can_ be followed in doing many things, I don't think what "deepsky" is trying to do is not really that formalized. That is, she is not doing it to be published, I don't think. I think she wanted to do it just because she wanted to set a goal of reading some books more "carefully." For that purpose, I don't think reading "How to Read" would be a prerequisite for her summer project. Anyway, I've never been good at GukEo tests in school. Even in the college entrance exam, half of my incorrect answers from all sections came from the GukEo section. :p So, I guess one might say I am not "qualified" to comment on this subject. They've always told me that you should figure out what the intent of the person who wrote the questionnaire, but somehow I've always had my own interpretation of things. But that does not mean I don't like reading. I think every one should read something besides newspapers, magazines and Internet postings. :p It's just that what one gets from reading the same book (just like in appreciating arts) is different. I guess what's important about writing after reading a book is that you found something interesting in it, gathered your own thoughts on it, and wrote it down so that it will be more articulate and stay with you. However, it probably is a good exercise to read what some others' thoughts on what reading is and how one should do it in a formalized fashion. I just don't think that there should be "one bible" for all occasion for all the people. 홍. -- 2003-02-13 ------------------------- http://www.sori.org/hongcho/ -- In audio, as elsewhere, fool-proof systems prove the existance of fools. -- Dick Pierce |
