My friend at work asked me when the Chinese New Year day is. I guess it was yesterday or today, something like that. When I look around the campus I saw some postings that advertise the Chinese New Year. One thing that bothers me is that most American friends call it "Chinese New Year Day" rather than "The new year day of lunar calendar". Looking again the postings, I can see that Chinese students on campus have the initiative on the parties celebrating the New Year Day. Yes, how the day has been coined originally is so important. I know many other Asian students also celebrate the day. I know that Chinese students are not very dominant in other topic as much as this one. One my tiny resolution ^^ is that I am going to use the word "New year day based on lunar calendar" whenever I have chances. |
