But the continuation of our discussion made no bad effect on my private life, nor to my work. When you say, 'logic and belief complements', if you mean 'not all our decisions are supported by logic' I agree with you. But I was speaking that a single specific conclusion cannot be both a logical conclusion and belief simultaneously. I meant this by 'logic and belief conflicts fundamentally'. Because 'p AND not p' is a contradiction. But I think you have 'p OR not p', which is a tautology, in mind. When you speak of the whole set (U in the diagram I presented) 'not p' forms the complementary set of X, to make up the whole set U. But speaking of an element, 'p' and 'not p' cannot stand at the same time. Thus for a specific idea, only one of 'p' and 'not p' can claim its territory. Your thought as I understand is X ∪ X^C = U, when you say they complemets. And I was saying X ∩ X^C = φ, that X and X^C cannot share territory. They do not collide, But do you understand the latter? ◇ ~~~_ _ ∴ ~|~| | _/__, SEP. 11. 2001 _ ∴∴ _ ~ | | \ ` Armorica under a tat ,-| `,-,_| |__ | | | A ______|_|__|_|___|__|| | |__|_|_____________________________________ |
