The successful candidate should have B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Chemical Engineering to warrant appointment as a full professor. The candidate should have an outstanding record in teaching and research and show strong evidence of academic leadership and ability to build effective support from industry. The department has B.S. programs in both chemical and metallurgical eng- ineering and has M.S. and Ph.D. programs in metallurgical engineering. The primary interest in the department, both in chemical and metallurgical engineering is process engineering. The new chair will be able to build an interdisciplinary graduate program in environmental engineering. There are currently 9.65 state funded FTE positions in the department. During the 1994 calendar year, research funding through grants and contracts exceeded $2,000,000.
