Technically speaking, the professor on the 'tenure track' is not supposed to be tenured yet. AT my school, I have seen many assistant and even associate professors on the tenure track: some of them got tenured and the others not. Though good funding and publication history are among the critical factors in getting tenured, it seems just like other societies, connection and pure luck are more than important, which may be what makes it pretty hard for yu-hak-saeng's to get eventually tenured, even if they end up having any academic positions. |
