The next section, section 6, is probably the most difficult for most Koran students. In this section you will be asked to talk about a certain topic for about a minute. The instruction is usually "Describe a ...". The topic could be something like 'perfect student' or 'a telephone' or something more coplex like 'What do you think about population control in the world?' (These are all made-up examples). You will be asked to talk about four topics, one at a time. Each time you will have a little time before you start speaking so that you can think of what to say. This section is difficult because we usually do not express what we think in this way even in Korean. Naturally, the task is much more difficult when we try to do it in English. One tip that can help you is that you don't have to describe each and every part of a thing (e.g. a telephone), which is what many people would try to do. What you need to do is to explain what it is in a very simple way as you would talk to a child. For example, you don't have to explain how a telophone works or what individual parts are. |
