At Purdue, if you are a university staff (including RAs and TAs), your dependents can receive fee remision (they are exempt from out-of state fee) and can pay a small in-state fee and attend school. At Purdue, in-state fee is around $1,500, while out-of-state fee is around $5,000. This is a big discount. However, you will be taxed for this discount (you will be taxed about 25% for this in Indiana). the tax depends on which state you are in. A friend in Illinois have never paid this tax....
