I'll tell you why it's almost impossible for foreign students to get into medical school. First, there is few limited spaces. Therefore, the priority is given to the u.s. citizen or permanent residents. There were about 50,000 applicants for the approximately 15,000 available spaces this year. Second, medical school wants someone who would practice in the U.S. rather than someone who eventually would return to his or her own country. The American Medical Association and the U.S.government are very protective about this matter. Third, MCAT is not easy as people think. One person mentioned that problems on the MCAT are so simple. Oh well, the biological and physical science might be simple for some people but the writing and verbal reasoning are not so simple as one thinks. You have to write two essays in 1 hour. Of course the topics s are given at the testing site. The passages on the verbal reasoning and writing topics are absolutely not related to science. However, if you want to go into medical school's Ph.D. program, it's worth it to try. I'm neither trying to put down foreign students nor their abilities. But I'm just simply trying to tell the realistic facts. It's their own choice to make any choices. If there is right in the soul There is beauty in the person.
