| [ military ] in KIDS 글 쓴 이(By): agasi (단물총각) 날 짜 (Date): 1998년 12월 18일 금요일 오후 05시 46분 31초 제 목(Title): [여담] 세계 각국의 해군력 순위 논쟁?? 얼마전에 sci.military.naval에서는 각국에 해군을 순위매김하는 것에 대한 얘기가 오고갔습니다. 뭐..아무래도 자기나라를 더 우수하게 치게되고.. 웬만큼 많이 알지 않고서는 제대로 순위를 매기는게 불가능하죠.... 그렇더라도..1등은 당연히 미국이라는데는 아무도 이의를 달지 않더군요.. 문제는 2위부터 5위까지인데요...영국/프랑스/러시아/일본/독일/오스트레 일리아/스위스/이태리/중국 .. 중 어느 한나라가 특별히 뛰어나다고 할수가 없는 것입니다. 한번은 Adam Yosida라는 일본인으로 생각되는 사람이 미국- 영국에이어 일본-러시아-호주/캐나다 순으로 했다가 Andrew Topin씨에게 한방 먹기도 했습니다. No offence to the Canadians or Australians, but there are several other navies that have more ships and greater power-projection capabilities...France is one obvious example; you can argue about others, such as Italy and Germany. If Australia and Canada don't replace their DDGs (and it looks very much like they will not), they'll be surpassed by all the AEGIS and AEGIS-like DDGs being built right now (Germany, Spain, Netherlands, South Korea). Russia is hard to evaluate, but certainly doesn't belong in the "Top 5", since they can't afford to deploy their ships, can't afford to repair their ships, can't afford to build ships, and can't even afford to keep their crews fed. --------------------------------------- 이런 논쟁들이 오고간후에 제가 보기에는 가장 합리적으로 순위를 매긴 글이 있어서 퍼왔습니다. 장거리 타격능력, 무력투사능력, 보유함정의 능력을 고려해..그룹별로 정리했네요..한국과 일본이 같은 그룹에 포함된점이 재미있습니다. 물론, 북한은 우리보다 밑이구요... ---------------------------------------- Just some comments on the "how to rank navies" threads. I am doing some guesstimates so please have the experts tell me I am an idiot. 1st Tier: Able to operate in all waters and deploy superior forces at two or more very seperate locations, logistical tail, blue water can stay on station for as long as the ships float. Has a variety of specialist and general purpose vessels. Can influence situations on land. Currently the United States is the only nation at this level. 2cd Tier: Has the ability to blow most small neighbors up. ie SSBN's United Kingdom, France, Russia, China 2-a: Able to deploy superior forces to one location. Can practice both sea-control and sea denial United Kingdom, and France when Russia has the money they'll join this group. 2-b: Sea denial force with plans to modernize and move up (China) 3rd Tier: Mixed modern forces. Theatre wide deployment is all the fleet is set up for. Specialized more for the immediate conditions. Mainly convoy and sea denial duties. Japan, Taiwan, Canada, Australia, Germany, Spain, Italy, India Turkey, Greece, Egypt and S. Korea are all heading that way 4th Tier: Medium to short range defense forces. Mainly sea denial with minimal area capabilities. Good littoral forces. Isreal, Saudi Arabia?? N. Korea, Norway, Singnapore, Sweden, Iran, New Zealand, Thailand?? 5th Tier: Spitting Distance defense forces... more patrol/ Coast Guard functions than a real naval defense 6th Tier: Nothing Many nations can float in between a few different catergories, for example the PRC, except for its SSBN is a coastal force that is trying to expand to a modernized navy. Taiwan has a strong coastal defense force with fast attack vessels and attack aircraft, but it also has a convoy protection element. Under the tiers I have listed some examples that I think would fall under the catergory, but by no means is that list even close to complete, I was just using examples.
