First of all, the local bus service costs less than a pound so credit cards are not accepted - taxi doesn't accept a card either. When it comes to finance, as i don't know when you expect to receive the money from Korea and other things such as accommodation cost and fees, let me just give you a rough estimate. Though things will depend on each individual, living expenses except accommodation cost would require about 200 pounds a month. For sure, there will be people who totally disagree. Anyway, if your 500 quid is for living expenses - except accommodation as above - for about a month, it should be more than enough even if considering it's your first term here, in my opinion.
