As a person who lived in US longer than 10 years, here is what you would find it true about Audi A4 from the perspective from Americans. 1. Sure, Audi is a luxery brand. No one argues that Audi is equivalent to BMW and Mercedes or not these days. Look at the price. What Sakang got might be a low budget brand due to a small engine. However, Audi costs same as other luxury brands with same spec. Even for myself, I prefer Audi over BMW. I am not the only one, believe me. 2. Mr. Sakang's Audi 1.8T doesn't cost that high (still very expensive compared to everyone's Civic or Corolla) due to the small engine. However, with $25000, you can get V6-fully equipped Accord or Camry. Considering this option, buying a small A4 1.8T is not an easy choice. A4 is an expensive car even though it is 1.8T. 3. Here is what people usually think as a same group. 1. BMW330, A4-2.8, Merds C-class. (luxury compact cars) 2. Passat, Maxima, Avalon.. (quite expensive family sedans) * 1 & 2 are samely priced. But, 1 is much smaller making it luxury. 3. Camry, Accord,.......... , Sonata (Everybody's family sedans) 4. Corrolla, Civic, ....... , Elatra (Everybody's family compacts) If people have $30000, most of them go for roomy camry and accord (happy with $5000 left) If people don't care $5000 saving, just some get Passat or Avalon. (typical wealthy dad and mom) and few people uses $30000 for small A4 or BMW3xx. (Yeah, a 20 year old son from very rich family can do that) Conclusion: Sakang really got a luxury compace car. No doubt. Considering the fuel cost in Korea, 1.8T seems to be a reasonable choice. |
