| [ car ] in KIDS 글 쓴 이(By): TACK (T@CKt@ck) 날 짜 (Date): 2002년 12월 15일 일요일 오전 01시 42분 18초 제 목(Title): Re: Changing gears it's unfortunate about your accident. i am sorry to hear that. i hope no one was seriously hurt. first of all, ABS does not kick in until you depress the break pedal. thus, your ABS not having any effect. hope that answers your question. secondly, when you downshifted, you lost control of front wheel (i'm assuming you have front wheel drive). when engine break kicks in, it was with so much force (enough to break the grip of the tire), that ithad the same effect as slamming on the break. normally, when people break and realize that the tires are slipping people would let go of the break (or at least ABS would kick in) thus freeing up the wheel lock. however, in your case, you used the engine break. you should've let go of your gear engagement (or put the car in neutral by deptressing the clutch). i used to drive an integra few years back. same things used to happen to me very often when i was using engine break to slow down in winter. i'd make a big donut while trying to make a left turn in front of inter sections. i soon got rid of the car. :) this is probably the reason why i drive big cars now. btw, i bet anything your front tires are very worn out. my integra did less of spin after i replaced somewhat worn out tires in the front as i remember. |
