I had a one-car accident about a few months ago. It was on a rainy day and I was driving on a rather steep downhill. That road gets extremely slippery when wet and the road is curvy too. Because I knew it would be slippery I was going slow, maybe 15 mph or so. I wanted to the use engine brake as usual and I shifted from D to "2" That moment, I lost the control of the car and it did 180 spin and slipped about 30 meters until it hit rocks on the side of the driveway. When I was shifting gears, I was making a slight right turn to follow the road. The cars is equipped with ABS but I did not hear the sound that it makes when it's working. (d-d-d sound) The question is, was I NOT supposed to shift gears while I was going down the curvy road which was wet and slippery? I only have driven automatic cars do not know much about changing gears so would like an advice from experts. You can reply in Korean which is my first language. |
