They are usually run by former or incumbent professional drivers. Actually, that's my guess. Anyway, i remember reading from either Car and Driver or Motor Trend that it costs about $2000-$3000 for a weekend driving instructions I wouldn't be able to say how much you can get out of that. But, it sounds like a very expensive deal. Another driving school that one person talked about is really for those who committed some traffic violations. In California, if you go to traffic school (as called in most cases), you wouldn't have to pay the penalty and the particular violation would not be a part of permanent record so that your insurance premium would stay unchanged . But, not any more. Now, you have to pay the penalty AND go to traffic school for about 8 hrs on a day. And, you can keep one ticket from going into record per 18 months (this part has not changed, though). In other words, if you get two tickets in 18 months, you can get only one out of records.
