They might say something to their husbands. No matter what, husbands are likely to be nagged. :) On the other hand, if that Filipino carries a 4000 won bag, no one cares. As you said, it depends on which society one belongs to. The difference is that Koreans are more homogeneous and care more about others' look. Some of "Myung Poom"s are orgininated from the states. I'm sure some fractions of americans do care. I know a few whites who recyle fabrics and make their own clothes. I met a few black girls who really cared about those brands. These days, I overhear conversations of Harvard students in their shuttle bus. They talk all sort of things but they mingle. (maybe not?). Whatever I am, instead of despising me because I didn't know Prada, they embrased me. The problem is that I'm conscious about those differences and do not like to be social among people of different classes. Still it's o.k. to be an outsider too. (I had hard time in Korea because I was an outsider during my college years.) [Disclaimer] I chose Harvard because I heard that it is one of the most expensive schools in the US. If Tufts and MIT are classified as such, there is no difference in naming those schools. |
