I prepared it myself since people had told me that I wouldn't need any help from an attorney. However, if I had known better, I would've had an attorney prepare it for me. You might end up spending some money, but if you can afford, and if you don't have any extra time to dedicate to this matter, I suggest you go look for an attorney. S/he would know the specific situation of the local office, which would be helpful to you. As far as I know, you don't have to file anything to the Vermont center since NYC office accepts all the applications. For my case, it took about 2-3 months to get the first EAD (emloyment authorization card). It's been 2 years since I filed for AOS and still haven't heard anything from the INS. It could be due to the fact that I moved my files from one office to another. When you file the applications, you'll get a receipt, but not any notification of some sort, but then again,...each office might have different policies. I didn't file at the NYC office, so I don't know how it works in NYC. I suggest you ask the question to the news group that I mentioned before. Good luck and be patient! -j. |
