If you didn't receive the EAD card, the following info. may be helpful to figure out the matter. I will write down what I know of based upon the experiences of colleagues, my friends, and mine. The length of time to receive the card varies a lot, depening on the situation (actually the content of the documentation submitted). Here 60-90 days means from the receipt of the documentation to the issuance of the card, and it doesn't include time for mailing. 1. Job offer letter as a faculty Seems to take shortest. It took 45-60 days for me and my colleagues, and both of us attached offer letters from universities. 2. Job offer letter from a company takes about 60-90 days. It took 65 days for one friend, and 75 for another. 3. No job offer attached takes longest. Usually 80 or more than 90. These are my experiences, so, I would say it might be a little bit different for others. Also, this info. may not be useful for you since you submitted it long time ago. 4. It depends on the date your work starts Even you submitted it more than 90 days ago, but you specified the starting date after the 90 days, it takes longer. For example, if you wrote down the date as July 25, it is usually issued about several days before the starting date. 5. One Alternative available*** If you didn't receive the card, but got a job offer & would like to start: You can obtain an alternative work permit from a smaller branch INS (this INS is different from where the EAD card is issued). This permit allows you to work 2-3 months and will be taken care of by the International Office. It won't take long. Hope it would be of help. |
