| [ QuizWit ] in KIDS 글 쓴 이(By): iLUSiON (화려한집념) 날 짜 (Date): 2003년 10월 5일 일요일 오후 08시 02분 41초 제 목(Title): Re: estimating the digits of e. what geometrical pattern has 'e' ? obviously a circle has 'pi' as radius and area but what geometric shape will have 'e' in it ? then i realized that there was this FAQ in quiz that asked about what kind of difference equation will generate e. i can't remember which problem but it was omething like 1/e = 1 -1/2! + 1/3! ... using inclusion -exclusion principle. now from this it is obvious that you can come up with monte-carlo algorithm that mimics this process. but i do not see any elementary solution that would be based on pure geometry like estimating pi. since staire claimed to saw it in the elmentary undergraduate textbook, please provide me with such solution. well you alawys claim something false but always never able to back up your claim. i have tons of monte carlo books but never seen this problem before. so i hope you can enlighten me. iLUSiON whitepolarcow@hotmail.com |
