Politics is the art of the possible, the attainable . . . the art of the next best - Otto von Bismarck Every day as I read the bad news from Korea, apparently getting worse, I am getting much more worried about Korea, far more than the survival of my own in the harsh environment of MIT. I was refreshed how little impact the engineers could bring.. into such a chaotic situation.. How little we can do.. I got to learn how much the politics, which has seemed quite far from me, unlikely to get related to my life, can make such a difference in an each individual's life. How lucky those people would be who have a visionary, devoted and committed to his/her subjects, as their leader.. I see the Korea, full of demagogues without the true statesmen on the stage.. Perhaps we deserve this hardship, not having any political mechanism or tradition so as to let the clean and responsible people survive and those demagogues weeded out on the political stage..
