The ISRIC is one of the centres within BT's Research and Venturing division. The ISRIC carries out world class research and advanced development activities for BT in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Optimisation technology, Agent technology, Soft Computing and Evolutionary Computing. Research teams within ISRIC take part in international R&D programmes with well-known universities and BT's partners and suppliers to ensure that the research remains leading edge and relevant to BT's strategic objectives. ISRIC teams have been successfully downstreaming and exploiting results of their research in the company's business units creating significant values for BT. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to be involved in defining research directions and will take an active role in carrying out R&D activities in an area that will be of significant importance for BT group future. Required Qualifications and skills : Chief/Principal Research Professionals We are seeking recognised experts to play leading roles in ISRIC. They should have substantial knowledge at a high level, eg PhD or equivalent, in areas such as computer science, artificial intelligence, agent technology, soft computing and evolutionary computing. They should have a strong track record in research leadership in a related field. They should have experience of collaborative research or other external partnerships or standards initiatives. They should be able to initiate new areas of work, act as thought leaders on leading-edge, complex intelligent software technologies, and =p?ropose new business opportunities arising from their research. Senior Research Professionals Successful candidates will have substantial knowledge at a high level, eg PhD or equivalent, of areas such as computer science, artificial intelligence, agent technology, soft computing and evolutionary computing. They should have a strong track record in research with several years of research experience. They must have good software engineering skills and practical experience in OO methodology, Java, C++ and systems programming. They should have : an inquiring mind with a preference for working within less defined boundaries, excellent creativity, self motivation and good communication skills, have team leadership experience, and must be passionate about achieving results.
