The term dark fiber refers to unused single-mode fiber capacity from fiber that has been installed for long distance applications that usually reach up to 100 kilometers without amplifiers or optical repeaters. This fiber is not currently "lit," meaning that it is not carrying traffic and is not terminated. 기술적으로는 잘 모르겠지만... 현재 국내 ISP들도 다크화이버를 많이 쓰고 있습니다. (주로 155M, 1G, 2.5G) Dark-Fiber PoS connectivity In dark-fiber PoS connectivity, IP routers are connected directly to dark fiber using PoS interfaces. If such connectivity is to be used to haul data over significantly long distances, regenerators are inserted into the link to maintain signal integrity and provide appropriate jitter control. 요즘 기업전용선 상품으로 뜨고 있는 매트로이더넷(IEEE 802.6과는 다른 얘기임, 이더넷을 확장한 MAN의 개념)이나 NGIP들도 백본과 연결할 때 기본적으로 이 다크화이버를 이용한다고 할수 있지요. Dark Fiber Metro Applications One of the most exciting innovations in the Gigabit space has been the growth in the deployment of long distance Gigabit Ethernet using long wavelength optics (1000BASE-LX and 1000BASE-ZX) on dark fiber to build network links that reach metropolitan distances. 10 Gigabit Ethernet will be deployed in MAN applications over dark fiber, over dark wavelengths, and as a fundamental transport for facility services. The latest advancement in Ethernet technology, 10 Gigabit Ethernet, is being driven by a need to interconnect Ethernet LANs operating at 10, 100, or 1000 Mbps. Ten Gigabit Ethernet can be used for aggregating slower access links, in the backbone networks, and for WAN access. Using 1550-nm serial lasers, distances of 40 to 80 km (25 to 50 mi) are possible with 10 Gigabit Ethernet over standard SM fiber. With such technology, service providers can build simple Ethernet networks over dark fiber without SONET or ATM and provision high-speed 10/100/1000 Mbps services at very low cost. In addition, a very short reach (VSR) OC-192 interface can be used to connect 10 Gigabit Ethernet to DWDM equipment over MM fiber. 음~~ 쓰고 보니 별로 도움이 안되었네요. 자세한 것은 딴분이 알려주시 겠지요. |
