| [ KAIST ] in KIDS 글 쓴 이(By): mkjung (한눈안팜 ) 날 짜 (Date): 2000년 9월 8일 금요일 오후 02시 29분 02초 제 목(Title): Re: [p]인건비 줄이려다 인력난 美컴퓨터 기초 과학분야에 미국 시민권자인 백인들이 더 적을걸요? 기초과학 분야에서 본국인(미국 교수 입장에서 봤을 때 미국인 학생)의 빈자리들을 외국인들이 메워주는 것은 어제오늘 얘기가 아닌데... 캐나다에서는 다른가보죠? 캐나다로 귀화하신 분이 그 정도를 모르실 것같지는 않고... 아무래도 캐나다와 미국의 분위기가 다른가 봅니다. ========== its about 50% 50%. but US simply attract the best student from all over the world and make them their own citizen. even if you are born in korea, india, or china it doesn't matter. you will be assimilated into US and your contribution is to US not korea, india or china. once you step into US and get a job that pays 100K, not many will return to their own native countries. don't you think? ^^ in canada, every year about 5000 graduates move to US and never return. so canada has to attract skilled IT people from china and india. once they find jobs in cananda, they will not return to their own country whether their country is booming or not. but rather they want to go to US ! even in canada, the motto of IT people is "go to USA". once you have lived in 10 -20 years in north america and get Ph.D. here, not many are willing to return to their native lands. many korean Ph.D who return to korea are mostly like the one who couldn't find the job in US due to lack of communication skill or aggresiveness. i have seen many korean Ph.D's who got jobs in US and get green card then citizenship and stay in US. why do you thinkg there are so many so called "korean american scientists"? when you go to any US universities , chances are that there are at least 5-10 korean-american professors who have american citizenships. i have a relative who with his wife got korean government funded full scholarship for their Ph.D. in US. after they got their Ph.D. the got jobs in NY and decided not to return. why? s a working couple, their combined income is more than 300K. i have no idea if they repayed the funding to korean government but that is usually what happens if you can get a job in US. |
