First of all, you guys know that it's not easy to have hangul installed in Macintosh. Believe me it took me about 2 days *and* nights to have apple's World Script II Korean and korean communication program installed. Here are 3 things you need to get : A. System 7.1 or higher (better be stable one) (I strongly suggest that you pull out all those junky(?) Extensions from Extension Folder except ones that are from apple. remove *all* non-apple cdev/inits from the system folder and move it somewhere else. I know that people like to have 30, 40 some system patches to make themselves fell right at home, but most of time they usually give them headaches. Remove all non_apple stuff.) --- Notice that System 7.5 is not compatible with WS-II Korean so don't get System 7.5 B. World Script Extention Korean(WSII Korean) (This is the language module kit that enables your system to read and write Korean with Macintosh. It contains many extension patchs and several korean fonts. No luck for those of who are in U.S. I've tried to get it from Apple but they don't even know that it's exist!!! You have to *find* or buy it. I heard that you can buy it from Apple Korea, or the place called ELEX in korea.) C. Hangul-capable communication Program. (one can find a copy of it from : "ftp://cancun.caltech.edu/pub/Korean/Mac/Hangul_ZTerm_0.9.README" "ftp://cancun.caltech.edu/pub/Korean/Mac/Hangul_ZTerm_0.9.sea.hqx" it's ftp site(korea.caltech.edu). Log in as anonymous and type binary before get them. You might need 'stuff expander' to get it hatched. Well, these are all you need, but it can be *very* tricky -- believe me. Oh, one thing when you install the WSII, make sure you put them where they are supposed to go. Extensions in the extensions folder, cdev in the control panel folder, and fonts in the fonts folder (oh, there are documantations along with fonts, those docs are supposed be just hanging in system folder - not in font folder) WSII korean in system folder(file). After reboot the computer, under control panel - view, select seoul font to be used in finder that way you can give file names in korean! O.K. I think it's about it! So good luck!!!! 류 승찬 (yoo@seas.ucla.edu) +---------------------------+-----------------------------------------------+ | Peter S.
