From : jylee (June-Yub Lee) Date : Thu Nov 19 07:37:20 1992 Subject: hcode upgrade : Any suggestion? The following list of codes will be supported by the next release of "hcode2.0" in addition to KSC5601-1987, ISO-2022-KR, Sambo, and N-byte. Any comments and suggestions are welcomed. 1. KSC5601 + 8byte combination method ------------------------------------- As you might have heard already, I will upgrade my "hcode" to reflect of the result of the recent discussion on hangul code. I will support KSC5601 with 8byte combination method. 2. ISO-2022-KR:SDN code ----------------------- Also I will help Uhhyung Choi's effort to support Hangul chars in "Mail headers field" using RFC 822 with "s" option in hcode. So that $HOME/.forward "| hcode -sk #your_mail_box" do the converting of incoming mail for you. 3. Hangul romanization code --------------------------- Next release of hcode will fully understand (not just printout but also read ) the standard romanization code agreed by N and S Korea. I think it should be a possible solution to use Hangul in News Net. I think I will support both old style and new style of romanization code if there is no ambiguity. For example, G,D,B,J (old style) and CH,KH,TH,PH (standard) are okay but K,T,P and C (means G,D,B,J in old style) make me confused. It's possible to make hcode to be context sensitive but it's too much so I will follow the standard. Here is something I would like to hear from you. ------------------------------------------------ Definitely I need a syllable boundary since there is no distinction between Cho.Seong and Jong.Seong in romanization. for example {kakkka} is {kak.kka} or {kakk.ka} where k=ki.yeonk One choice is using "." between characters in a word like this: {Han.Keul} Code{Leul} = {han.keul} Code{leul} Or I can use upper case for ChoSeong and lower case for JongSeong. Well, this is more efficient in space but you can't write separate Jamos without SO/SI sequence. {HanKeul} Code{Leul} and {K}{A} instead of {K.a} Your choice? Also what's the best choices for SO/SI? Since ^N/^O is not allowed for News Net I will use "{", and "}" and original { will be converted to {{. Is it looks okay? Thanks for your attention for hcode.
