I went to the "Body Shop" at the Galleria to buy some shampoo and wondered why some people think that it is unfair to test new medicines or drugs or carry out quite dangerous experiments on little animals such as mice. Being an ardent advocator against animal testing, the very fact that this sort of question crossed my mind somewhat baffled me. I began to think that it's much better to test them on animals rather than doing it on, say, human beings, because that means if new drug or medicine is harmful and have the capability to hurt or kill someone, then a human being's life would be wasted over a mouse. But the question lies in that where exactly is the line between life that is worth saving and that is worth dying. I mean is human life more precious than that of the mouse's? Who are we to decide and who are to judge? I know that the world id overflowing with people but then again there are plenty of mice as well. A human being is able to work and can do lots of other things unlike a small rodent. But is that really a fair justification toward the random killing? I came back to my senses when I reached home... my conclusion was "not". Just because mice are abundant and seem to be useless that does that mean we can go on randomly taking a "life" into our hands and choose to do as we warrant. It's to bad that the "body Shop" is the only Animal-free manufacturer present in korea... |
