They are members of hungarian Telecommunication Company and came to Korea this time for the business related to the "Memorandum of Understanding" which had been agreed between Korea and Hungary. As scheduled, they visited to Korea Telecom Research labs at Woomyun-dong where I work. Just the day before their visit here, I got a mission to host them and perform a presentation about introduction of our Labs. Before the official presentation, We, two Hungarians and I had lunch together at a swell French restaurant near Yangjae station. It was merely thanks to them, I had a chance to taste lobster for the first time of my life. While we were enjoying luxurious meal, I asked several questions to them. One of them was "What are the major concern or interest of you Hungarians in their forties?" The first, getting a flat in Budapest. and the second, having their own car. and third, going abroad. What a surprising answer! To telle you the truth, I expected something more than I could guess. But what a similarity! If not exactly the same, at least they are those in 1982's in Korea on an average, I guess. Besides, they have traffic congestion in Budapest. And from the telecommunication point of view, they have much telephone demand which are not to be fulfilled (Jeon-hwa-Jeok-che), which was already solved out in late 1980's. Though they hav lived in a communist country for a long time, they have different color, the fundamental social feature are not so different from that of us, at least Hungarians are concerned. That was a very nice occasion to me. I wish they had a nice impression about Korea. Thanks for reading! |
