In short, they built a bridge over Han River in 1979. They call it "Songsu Great Bridege." In Oct. 21, 1994, the bridge decided to take a "step." It just got collapsed. No earthquake, no explosion, nor being shaken by God's hand. 32 (?) peoples died from this "event"; it wasn't safe to be fallen from the bridge. The nature of this "comedy" was that they already got warned on the state of the bridge, and "they" didn't care much; "they" really trusted the bridge like a worshiper. Rumor goes that other "bridges" are also thingking of taking their own "step." The President Kim made an apology. Apology accepted? I'm not sure. For none is taking resposibility on this, now I truely believe the bridges have their own free will. p.s.: "They" refers to state employee, not to 32 peoples who got victimised. -------------------------------------------- 혹시라도 어쩌다가 아픔같은 것이 저며올 때는 그럴 땐 바다를 생각해 바다 ... ----- 김민기의 <봉우리> 중에서 ----------- J jhan@ucsd.edu |
