Seeing the color of the leaves of trees turn yellow, I hum a part of the song. "In fall, I write a letter. Whoever be my friend and receive it. .......................... Who is lonely is beautiful." I dared to translate a part of the beautiful Korean lyric. The aesthetics of the song is that of loneliness. He/she wants to write a letter. But he/she has no specific person to forward the letter. So he/she is lonely. But that makes the person beautiful. Is a person in loneliness beaitiful? It may have been so to the writer of lyric, Mr.Go, un, an ex-monk. He may have felt beauty in a person freed from everything/body. But for me, an average person without the wisdom of Go-un, I feel more beauty from a person who has nice freinds around him/her, friends who can hear his/her ideas, concerns, and more. Fortunatelly, I have some nice freinds around me, even though I am not beautiful. In this fall, I will write them letters saying how I am doing and asking how they are doing. I am happy because I have friends I can forward my fall letters to. |
