On the 3rd floor, sipping Heineken, with wrist watch neatly sitting on the table, read _The Work of Nations: Preparing Ourselves for 21st-Century Capitalism_ (Robert B. Reich). I was waiting for the 7:15 movie, "32 short films about Glenn Gould." Alone. Nothing should be wrong with being alone; it's been my ritual seeing movie alone. I have been having a difficulty to understand others' saying it's difficult to imagine going to movie alone. Appreciating films alone is really comfortable and sometimes self-liberating. You should try it, if not done. Reich was elaborating on "ecumenical company"; it makes "multi-national" company sound like neolithic concept. Nissan, Toyota, GM, Ford, etc. are ecumenical. I've heard of "ecumenical" in one of Christianity movements. Of course, "EC" isn't religious, but it places efficiency (to make money) at the state of worship. The movie was great. Acoustically so, for the first time, i regetted sitting alone watching/listening to it. Suddenly I felt lonely; guess good movie makes me lonely. You should try it with your boyfriend, if not done. In 1973 (?) the U.S. launched Voyagers in the Galaxy. They put music of Johann Sebastian Bach in it, played by Glenn Gould. By the way, try it only if you like classic music, specially piano. "The Idea of the North" (by Gould) remember I, still. Enjoying cool La Jolla... p.s. I hate misspelling on the subject. ----------------------------------------- Mountain is mountain, water is water. --------------------------------------- J jhan@ucsd.edu |
