Some of these odds were absurd and hilarious, I thought. All in all, they were funny. "Funny odds"... you see?.... so I decided to share with others. (or perhaps I'm lacking =) How credible are these odds you ask? You said you think women in the 1950's and 60's were just less pron to report that they had sexual encounters before marriage. I agree. But how credible is that statement? How can you measure and eliminate these errors? I guess it isn't an easy task. But I'll just trust that they used enough data and statistcal theories to make them presentable at least. What are the odds that you'll get a busy signal? The odds: 1/8.9 I thought that was pretty preposterous. =) How credible is THAT?? Obviously it depends on who you call. Anyway, I went back to the article to look at the source. The odds were based on a Bell Labs study of long distance direct dial calls. After taking enough courses in statistics and working with professors, I'll say I'm an astute student of statistics but not of "these matters". Unless I actually go out and collect samples and perform analysis, I'm at a risk of making an in-credible "odds"... aren't I? =) I don't know if there was a study done on Korean women/men. I, too, will be very interested to see the result. S.K.k. P.S. you claim that women 'today may be OVER-REPORTING on this because it is "the thing to do."' I really don't think that's the case at all. These are anonymous polls. I don't see the psychology behind cheating themselves, nor do I think that it is "the thing to do." P.P.S. Don't we have a poll facility on KIDS? I think we should start utilizing it. =) P.P.P.S. Hope your search of 508th USASA Group is going well! |
