On the street called La Brea, there is a small cafe right across the "76." Sort of killing-time place for the local hippies. A place you can smoke most comfortably (in LA), while you read book or sip coffee. I watched a man in the corner fold a slice of bread as if he were folding a birth certificate or looking at the photograph of a dead lover. I was still reading Brautigan's. How's your vacation? Need a diligent, industrious box-boy yet? Brother bought a CD; Han, Young-ae's "1993 Best Live, A-u-seong." Hers is kinda Rock. On the way to La Jolla, listened to her; the more I did, the more I liked her songs. Do you know Han-dol's "Yeo-ul-mok"? I'm missing Mom and Dad already. People say alot about "love" here, but like I said before loving one is wanting to be with one, to me. Simple and easy, just like that. I think I love Mom and Dad. Hope they're having a good time. (And miss me?). Saw a Chinese movie, The Blue Kite, last Thursday. It is about domestic life, day-to-day routines of a small town, and metaphoric winter silence during Mao's Cultural Movement days. This movie has been banned in China. Let's see if we can enjoy one together. Better sign off now. Sweet vacation! ----------------------------------------- Mountain is mountain, water is water. --------------------------------------- J jhan@ucsd.edu |
