It is not fair to consider them as a single group. Some are losers from Korea. Not having the intelligence required to get into a university in Korea, some rich kids jump to the states in order to get a college degree. With lots and lots of money from their parents - most of whom gained their wealth by deceit and crimes - they drive around in fast cars and live in expensive houses. Some are truly hard working students who came to the U.S. after obtaining an undergraduate degree from prestigious Korean universities. They are often highly motivated workers who try to learn as much as possible during their stay in the U.S. They usually dont't have that much money. They usually don't have cars. Only thing they do is study, study, and study. Of course, the diffentiation is not always clear cut. But, most often, the distinction stands. Do not treat the two groups in the same way. And, by the way, I heard someone bragging about fast cars, lots of money, AND some "top" U.S. college admission. The fact of the matter is, it is far - I mean really far - easier to get into MIT than a prestigious Korean University. So, it is not something to brag about. I give full support to my fellow Koreans who are enduring many hardships to study in the U.S. And to the boneheads with their parent's stolen money stuck in their pants, I would like to ask them to stay where they are. Stay in the states and ruin that country. We don't need the likes of them in ours. |
