MoM II http://www20.brinkster.com/kadirclan/ Stardock is interested in developing MoM2 but wants to see 5000 pre-orders before committing. Click here for more info or go to GalCiv.com. The two major points of interest would be that Stardock would be true to the original Master of Magic rather than reinventing the game, and that Stardock would be acquiring the rights to MoM outright. They intend to take the original game and enhance the graphics, adding a 3D engine while retaining the top down view, as well as adding the ability to zoom in and out on the map at will, and improving the enemy AI. Stardock intends to buy MoM rights and self-fund (7 digit budget) the project, which gives them full control over the game. The risk and losses if the project fails would be higher, due to self-funding. They need the 5k pre-orders to show that there would be interest in the game. The risk would be too great otherwise (so they say). Of course, they could always do some market research... If the project gets off the ground, the expected release date would be Fall 2006.
