The Department's special interests are in the areas of Computer Networks, Operating Systems, Natural Language Processing, but all qualified applicants in other areas will also be considered. Applicants must have completed all requirements for the Ph.D.(or equivalent) in computer science or a closely related field, and should have demonstrated strong research and teaching potential. The department offers B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in computer science. The number of Ph.D. students grows steadily, consistent with the Institute's policy that places much emphasis on Ph.D. program. Currently, the department consists of 23 professors, about 230 undergraduate students and 280 graduate students. There are also more than 10 post-doctors, some of them from abroad. The department has more than 100 Ph.D., about 800 M.S. and 300 B.S. graduates who are working at the central positions of the major information industry, research organizations and nationwide unversities.
