COMPOSITE MANUFACTURING ENGINEER/PROJECT MANAGER Aurora Flight Sciences of West Virginia (AWV) is looking for a self-motivated individual able to assume the dual role of project manager/project engineer for a major aerospace composite fabrication contract. Specific responsibilities include managing the schedule and budget for the project, designing tooling, specifying tooling materials, specifying tooling and part manufacturing processes, specifying and overseeing inspections and testing, interfacing with the customer, and working with the shop foreman to provide general day-to-day management of the manufacturing process. In addition, as one of two project managers/composite engineers, this individual will assist with engineering for other projects at AWV, will assist with proposals, and will help oversee any R&D projects AWV undertakes. AWV was founded in 1994 to specialize in manufacturing small production runs and prototypes of high quality advanced composite parts at low cost. Current projects include the construction of molds and parts for both Theseus, a 140 foot wingspan unmanned aircraft, and for the forward fuselage on the OSC/Rockwell X-34 Reusable Launch Vehicle program. Minimum qualifications for this open position include a bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or a related technical field, and exposure to composite manufacturing. Preferably, the candidate will also have project management experience and training/experience with manufacturing advanced composite tooling and parts for the aerospace industry. QA/CM/SAFETY ENGINEER Aurora Flight Sciences of West Virginia (AWV) is looking for a self-motivated individual to simultaneously wear the hats of quality assurance engineer, configuration management administrator, and safety engineer for the company. This individual will report directly to the Vice President and General Manager. AWV was founded in 1994 to specialize in manufacturing small production runs and prototypes of high quality advanced composite parts at low cost. Current projects include the construction of molds and parts for both Theseus, a 140 foot wingspan unmanned aircraft, and for the forward fuselage on the OSC/Rockwell X-34 Reusable Launch Vehicle program. Quality assurance responsibilities include setting up a quality system for AWV痘 manufacturing process which follows, where appropriate, the requirements of ISO-9002. Specific QA tasks include, but are not limited to, the following: - Plan and manage (with schedules, meetings, deadlines, etc.) the process of turning AWV's current QA system into one that both ensures AWV's products consistently meet their requirements and meets the requirements of potential customers; - Write and update the AWV Quality Manual; - Oversee the creation and updating of all procedures; - Ensure that procedures are followed in the company; - Study current processes (including the use of statistical techniques) and search for opportunities for improvement. As head of configuration management for AWV, this individual will be responsible for setting up and running a configuration management system to control and track all documents in the quality system, including shop instructions and manufacturing drawings. Safety responsibilities include having overall responsibility for ensuring the safety of the AWV work environment. This includes updating and enforcing safety policies, understanding and ensuring compliance with all OSHA regulations, and setting up safety training courses for shop personnel. The ideal candidate will have an engineering or mathematics degree and experience working in a quality function in a manufacturing environment.
