The party will take place from 4-6 pm in the Alumni Lounge, first floor, University Center. About the book : Alice Lu is a graduate student specializing in artificial intelligence. Edgar, her senior thesis project, is an intelligent Web spider, who follows her commands and prowls the Web to gather information. When Edgar transcends the boundary between technological creation and independent, autonomous being, Alice's once easily manipulated project begins to turn against her in its voracious, irrepressible search for knowledge, freedom and independence. What follows is part techno-thriller and part love story. Exegesis means the careful examination and interpretation of a text. "The main reason that I chose 'Exegesis' as the title for the story," says Teller, "is that the story's protagonist, Edgar, is a computer program. As a computer program Edgar lives his entire life through a process of exegesis; he only 'sees' the world through text and must find what meaning he can entirely within that text." @ 1997년 9월 4일자 "The 8 1/2 x 11 News" 에서 무단전제함을 밝힙니다. |
