Dear Ms. malcomX; Are you sure about the statistics on 500 fortunes? It is quite different from what I read. As far as I remember, one most conspicuous feature of those 500 fortune riches is that their parents were very (?) rich people. I don't have concrete data at hand now, let's search some data when we have tiem and energy. I am just concerned that you believe and spread the myth that 'if you work hard, you can be rich however poor your background is.' I do agree that this proposition (if you work hard,...) is partly true. Whatever your background is, you will have better chance of making success if yiou work harder. But, I do strongly believe that the big picture of a person's income, social status is destined by his/her parents' social and economic status. Let me change my word a little bit, I do strongly believe that the best predictor of a person's social status and income are his/her parent's income and social status. I am not saying that a person should not work hard because his/her parents are rich or poor. He/she should do his/her best to improve his/her life. I went a little too far. Let's say that my memory on the 500 fortunes's story is different from yours. I may be wrong. So, let' find some hard data if we can. I will search it too when I have time. We may have different definitions on 'forturne 500, source of wealth, rich...etc.' Let's leave the door open for that possiblity too. Guest. |
